Undone Parade by M. Drew Williams
We often sigh in unison.
We can’t decide how
to mourn springtime.
You say: let’s sculpt a clock
out of mist. You say:
let’s invent a sunlit delusion
that doubles as a keepsake.
You say: let’s die more diligently.
My mind is always amused
by its own simplicity. I say:
in the time it takes you to unwind
this ball of blue yarn,
tell me a fact about the May sky
you alone could know.
M. Drew Williams is from Upstate New York. His poetry has appeared in publications such as Baltimore Review, Harpur Palate, and Hobart. He holds an MFA from Creighton University. He is currently pursuing his PhD in English at Oklahoma State University.
