LAR’s 2010 Pushcart Nominations: Fiction

LAR’s Pushcart announcements march on with our 2010 picks in Fiction. LAR Fiction Editor Stefanie Freele says, “of this year’s LAR stories I had a hand in choosing, all I love, many I think about often, but these two stand out as unforgettable:

“Rocks” by Bonnie ZoBell (Issue 7, Spring 2010) has been a story that I’ve turned over many times, reread, studied, pondered and taught from as an example of memorable and palpable tension.

“Tallying” by Jill Maio (Issue 8, Fall 2010) is one of those haunting and courageous stories, painful yet somehow humorous at times. Altogether brilliant.”
