Give by Ma Yan Translated by Winnie Zeng



Ma Yan was born in Chengdu, China in 1979. A prolific writer and active member of the Beijing literary scene, she self-published two poetry collections and helped organize literary events including the Weiming Poetry Festival. She passed away in 2010. Posthumously, Ma Yan Essay Collection, Reading and Self Joy at Large, and Ma Yan Poetry Collection have been published. 

Winnie Zeng is from Zhejiang, China. She received a BA from the University of Washington, and currently teaches English in her hometown. Her poetry and translations have appeared in Poetry Northwest, Quarterly West, and Black Warrior Review among others.
